Considering a Broader Patient Experience Archive

Given the current situation, in which I have been asked to remove accounts of my own experiences at Bristol Royal Infirmary, I have been reflecting on how best to move forward in a way that is careful and constructive.

One option I am considering is the creation of a separate platform dedicated to patient reported experiences within NHS services more broadly, rather than focusing on a single hospital. Many patients experience distressing or harmful treatment but struggle to have their voices heard, particularly when complaints processes feel inaccessible, slow, or unresponsive. As a result, individual accounts often remain isolated and easy to dismiss.

The intention behind such a platform would be archival rather than adversarial: to provide a space where patients can share their experiences in their own words, without commentary, escalation, or conclusions being drawn on their behalf. Any future work in this area would be approached cautiously, with clear boundaries, ethical consideration, and an awareness of legal responsibilities.

I am aware that undertaking something like this would involve challenges, including scrutiny and disagreement. That is precisely why any steps taken would be slow, measured, and transparent. The focus would remain on documentation and preservation, not confrontation.

As part of this reflection, I have also been taking general advice on hosting and domain resilience, including conversations with providers such as Epik and OrangeWebsite, about best practices for avoiding frivolous or automated takedowns while remaining compliant with lawful court orders. OrangeWebsite has advised me that they only accept court orders from Iceland and additionally Epik have some of the strongest freedom of speech stances of any providers on the market.

This is not about evading legal responsibility, but about ensuring that personal documentation is not removed prematurely or without due process. I am exploring longer term options, including different top-level domains, purely from a stability and continuity perspective.

Personally, I have been looking for something constructive to focus on during what has been a stressful period. Channeling my skills into something that may help others feel less isolated in their experiences feels more productive than remaining locked in conflict.

I do also recognise that past periods of ill health or distress may be referenced by others to undermine my credibility. While I cannot change the fact that I have struggled at times, I can be clear about my intentions now: to act responsibly, thoughtfully, and with restraint.

For the moment, no decisions have been finalised. This post simply sets out an area I am considering exploring in the future, once things are calmer and appropriate safeguards are in place.

On a personal note, I am planning a short trip out of Bristol next week to attend a film screening I have been looking forward to. I’ve been spending time tidying the house and organising things for Marley, and I’m looking forward to a brief change of environment to help uplift my current mood.
